Agenda Ambiental
The Agenda Ambiental was established in 1998 at the Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí in order to coordinate the multiple environmental activities at the UASLP. Sustainable development and environmental rehabilitation have been topics within the agenda of the UALSP since the 50s when the “Instituto de Investigación en Zonas Desérticas” was founded. At current, more than 40 environmental multidisciplinary research projects are conducted at the UALSP.
The Agenda Ambiental promotes the horizontal collaboration among the academic and administrative units with the aim to represent the entire environmental perspective of the University and to incorporate it to the graduate and postgraduate curricula.

Therefore, it is one of the most traditional universities of the country and its autonomy is exercised with responsibility and maturity.
PMPCAThe environmental Programme “Programa Multidisciplinario de Posgrado en Ciencias Ambientales” at the Universidad Autónoma de San Luís Potosí offers postgraduate education with the options to study either towards the Master or the PhD degree.
Central responsible units for the PMPCA are the Faculties of Chemistry Sciences, Engineering and Medicine. Further involved departments are the ones of Social Sciences and Humanities, Faculty of Agronomy and Institutes for Metallurgy, Geology and for Research in Arid Land Zones. Main objective of this unique postgraduate programme is the formation of highly qualified professionals and academics able to think in complex environmental systems having developed the ability to integrate their knowledge in a multidisciplinary context. Working together in interdisciplinary research projects, the students are confronted with the methodology of the specific scientific approaches of natural, social and engineering sciences.
The PMPCA has a clear orientation towards the analysis and resolution of regional, national and international environmental problems. The approximately 90 Masters and Ph.D. theses are implemented in research projects related to the following areas: sustainable development in the San Luis Potosi state high land plateau, middle zone and Huasteca, agricultural systems and urban areas; indigenous housing; exploitation and pollution of ground and surface aquifers; environmental history, sanitation, management systems in mining areas; characterization and management of National Parks (protected areas at natural ecosystems), etc.
